WHERE TO SHOP
Chocolats Geneviève Grandbois
We are completely in love with this little unassuming choco shop just south of the Mile End on storied St. Viateur Street. The creations here stick to the classics but it’s pure perfection in truffle form. We could have eaten an entire box in an afternoon – we admit it.
Marché Jean-Talon
We LOVE, LOVE this chic and very Montreal outdoor/indoor market. THE must visit for all things fresh, tasty and Quebecois! More shopping (and tasting) then you could ever do in one day. Go early to check out what the stylish and beautiful Montrealers are buying that morning.
Jamais Assez
This cute design store seeks to tempt you with things to furnish your home. As the name says there’s “never enough” objects whether it’s accessories or furniture. Everything is designed and made in Canada. We dare you to walk out without picking up something cool and “designy”.
General 54
Don’t let the nerds of nearby video gaming giant Ubisoft scare you off from shopping on St. Viateur. Geek is chic! You can find vintage clothes, jewellery and accessories from 30+ different designers represented for your shopping pleasure at this boutique. They also carry a line of clothes designed by co-owner, Jen Glasgow.
WHERE TO PARTY
Bond
Yes, you may meet Pussy Galore and Dr. No, but here they are menu items (sorry) at this 007-themed (but not overdone) stylish boite in Mile End. Bond is known not only for their whimsically named drinks and 60’s inspired decor but also for their food. Must-haves include the Saganaki flambé à l’ouzo and vanilla bean Crème brulée.
Laika
10 years and going hard and strong, Laika is a killer wine bar, café and lounge located right in the centre of the Main action.
Club Opera
The newest kid on the block is bringing some upscale elegance to Montreal’s legendary nightlife scene.
Tokyo
Still popular after all these years, old guard and still a Main fave, Tokyo Bar proves you don’t have to be new to be a hot nightclub. As always you need to be there the right night, and when you are…well it’s great fun!
Bily Kun
Another plateau regular, we realized that sometimes cool and comfortable is a sexy thing. This unpretentious, Czech-influenced bar and live music space reels us in every time.
Chocolat Geneviève Grandbois
Boutique Unicorn
Black and white monochromatic style takes centre stage at Boutique Unicorn. This is reflected from the clothes, to the Baroque-inspired furniture to the vintage bicycle painted entirely white. Black is eternally classic so you’ll have no problem finding that sexy dress or just an elegant black and white striped scarf for those nippy October days.
